Wedding: Emily & Matt
Here is a wedding I shot in collaboration last March. The couple preferred almost exclusively a photojournalistic style, so there was really no posing. I enjoy this kind of challenge and feel that it produces truly artistic images. Here the bride is gathering around her bridesmaids before going into the ceremony. Since the bride was closest to the window, she is lit up a little more than the rest of the people in the photo, which makes her the focus of the picture – bingo.
I feel that the candid images are usually the ones that are capable of being the most sophisticated and artistic.
The ceremony.
Getting ready.
During the ceremony.
Before and after shots.
Married, walking down the aisle.
Greeting guests after the ceremony. I love the time period window framing the bride and groom.
Please use the sidewalk!
And they did sort of use the sidewalk.. or the step stones leading up to the little cute bench that I urged them to hang out on (note: this was probably the most staged part of the wedding photography).
Family members getting photographed by the other photographer.
Some black and white action side by side.
I looooove showing off the ring shots.
Place cards for the guests.
Bridesmaids drinking. I actually laid under them for this shot.
Getting picked up high in the chair.
