How to shoot in bright sun – my first engagement shoot in Tel Aviv! (Park Yayarkon)

I’m excited to introduce my premier engagement shoot in Tel Aviv of Lauren and Emil – two charming and intelligent people who booked me as their wedding photographer earlier this year. Oh, and the answer is simple: DON’T. Don’t shoot in bright sun… if you can avoid it. More about this later : )

How gorgeous is Lauren’s skin (not to mention her striking blue eyes)? Coming back to the subject of light, soft light is the key. Meaning, no midday bright sun, which would have caused the skin to have hard lines of shadow on it. This can definitely be OK, but it wasn’t the effect that I was going for, so we did the shoot during the magic hour – about an hour before sunset.

Lauren and Emil are really cute and loving with each other. Here they are walking through Park Hayarkon in northern Tel Aviv. I love the windy dotted white line and to emphasize it I lay on the ground so that it appears bigger. Also love the mystery of Park Hayarkon and its knotted trees.

As usual, I couldn’t help but include a little symmetry and lines into our shoot.

A carefree moment of hair-tossing : )

The Hayarkon river, although not recommended for swimming, has an magical, mysterious color that works great as a backdrop.

As I said before, Lauren and Emil have a special connection. I cannot wait to shoot their wedding and tell you all about it.
