Engagement shoot: Angela and Jamie

I was booked by this bride and groom-to-be without actually meeting with them in person first (it was through a referral from a previous bride whose wedding I shot last summer). I was amazed when I met Angela and Jamie for our engagement shoot, because despite their telling me how awkward they are in front of the camera, they looked like they walked out of a magazine (as you can see for yourself).

Love making my subjects into a small dot with the trees looming over them. It looks dramatic in a fun Thumbelina kind of way.

Before meeting my clients for the shoot, I give them guidelines for dressing and styling (great hair is a biggie). During the shoot I talk about body positioning and what angles look best. Engagement shoots is exactly when I can jump in with a few tips, which can make a big difference, although the adjustments are usually very subtle.

The Central Park in NY is a great spot, because you can get some nature-meets-city shots.
